Do you have an upcoming project that requires the use of a crane, but your business doesn't own one? Don't fret because crane rental companies do exist and ready to work with you. If you are going to start looking around at crane rental companies, check out these five questions you must ask.

Are There Multiple Options?

It's quite possible that you don't know which crane is the best one for your project, especially if you don't typically need cranes for your company. Therefore, it's imperative you find a crane rental company that has multiple options. This way, you can get exactly what you need. Of course, if you don't know what you need, you'll need to get suggestions on which cranes exist and which ones do what. This is where a good crane rental company can help. Good companies have the experience and willingness to help you choose the crane for your project. Simply tell them the job, and they can direct you to the right crane.

Are the Cranes Delivered?

How are you going to get the crane to your worksite, and how are you going to return it? One of the first questions you must ask any crane rental company if you are responsible for transporting the crane, or if they handle that for you. Make sure you also ask about any extra fees. For example, they may offer delivery, setup, and removal of the crane but only for an extra fee. If you don't know what services are included in the basic price, you can easily end up paying extra for all the services you really need. At the same time, if you don't require much help, a bare-bones plan may be perfect.

Do You Have Crane Operators?

The problem with renting a crane is that you might not have someone to operate it. A construction company that owns a crane probably has a person or multiple people who are trained and experienced in safely operating a crane. However, if you have to rent one because you rarely require them, you may also need someone who can handle the crane. They are big, dangerous pieces of equipment, and in the wrong hands, they can cause serious injury or death. Talk with the crane rental company to find out if they offer crane operators, and if so, if it is included in the price.

Are Permits Necessary?

As a business, you have enough to worry about, so you might not want to be bothered with figuring out which permits are necessary to erect a crane and how you go about filing them. Luckily, one characteristic of a good rental company is that they should know which permits you'll need, so you don't need to do more research or contact more people. Even better, some crane rental companies will offer to file those permits for you, so by the time you get your crane, you can legally use it.

Where Are Customer Reviews?

If any business is secretive about their customer reviews, or only seems to share the positive ones, it's not a good sign. A fair business wants you to know good and bad experiences, so you can honestly determine if they are a good fit. Only sharing positive reviews doesn't give you a fair idea of what working with the vendor is really like. If a company is too afraid to share their failures, they don't deserve your business.

If you need a crane for an upcoming project, don't think you have to go out and spend a fortune to buy one. Crane rental companies are a great way to get access to cranes and operators for cheap. If you would like more information regarding crane rental, contact a company in your area.
